Through mission, our VPC family lives the Word.

Putting self aside, we allow God's grace to transform us, individually and corporately, and to help us humbly reach out to our brothers and sisters, sharing with each other our suffering, our resources, and our love.

 

 

mission's strategies

 

  • Adopt programs with passionate sponsor within VPC family 
  • Emphasize deeper commitments to fewer projects rather than scattershot approach
  • Emphasize projects that focus on upstream causes of – poverty, social justice, exploitation of the defenseless, 
  • Seek opportunities for hands-on participation in ongoing Mission projects, including opportunities for participation by VPC families with children
  • Balance projects for local, national and international recipients
  • Adopt programs that serve all ages, youth and seniors.
  • Create opportunities for additional personal giving through special Mission projects
  • Promote mission to the VPC community and encourage Mission Committee participation
  • Collaborate with other churches – especially our Sister churches
  • Promote projects that support sustainability and stewardship of the earth
  • Educate congregation on and support Fair Trade

  • Receive and distribute the Mission allocation of 13% of the church operating budget and the reinstated 2009 funds
  • Explore opportunity to capitalize on corporate matching grants for our mission partners
  • Install our first Living Waters system in Tekax by Feb 2010
  • Begin investigation for second LWW project
  • Explore opportunities for support of Zang Tabi village in Cameroon
  • Reactivate our hands-on work with Habitat for Humanity
  • Explore continuation of support for educating girls in rural China
  • Sponsor coat drive, socks drive, food drive, etc
  • Support bi-weekly Fair Trade sales after church
  • Staff Padua servers monthly
  • Fund and support Maple Street dinners as needed by coordinator
  • Sponsor Alternative Gift Market during Advent
  • Sponsor One Great Hour of Sharing at Easter
  • Communicate via Moment for Mission at least 4 times/yr
  • Communicate by VPC Web Newsletter at least twice a year
  • Summarize Mission year for VPC Annual Report
  • Track additional Mission contributions
  • Provide 4-5 meetings/yr for deciding the mission funding distribution and project planning
