OUR SISTER CHURCHES AND MINISTRIES

Monte de Sion (MdS), Tekax, Mexico

Since 1990, VPC has sent mission groups to our sister church in Tekax, Mexico, to experience what it means to truly live in the love of God.  In addition to construction-oriented adult trips (with a few youth coming along), there have been two youth-oriented trips (the most recent in Summer 2008), and one Women's Retreat.

Our latest partnership was the installation of a Living Waters for the World water filtration and purification system on the MdS grounds in Feb 2010, providing their congregation with clean water. Read about our success here.

San Francisco Network Ministries

San Francisco Network Ministries (SFNM) has been active in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco for more than 35 years. Its mission is largely to tend to the spiritual needs of those who live on the streets or in single resident occupancy (SRO) hotel rooms. Executive Director Reverend Glenda Hope. spends a good deal of time providing pastoral care for those living with AIDS, drug addiction, mental illness and other issues related to poverty. She provides posthumous recognition, performing memorial services for those who have died alone, unmourned and, sometimes, unknown. Learn more about San Francisco Network Ministries

Dr. Abdul Mawgoud R. Dardery

The first of the 2009 Forums hosted by Valley Ecumenical Group was held on Sunday, February 8. It featured Dr. Abdul Mawgoud R. Dardery, a professor of English at South Valley University in Egypt, who spoke about Islam and its relationship with Christianity and Judaism. This was Dr. Dardery's second visit to our church campus.

Habitat for Humanity builds communities by constructing decent, affordable housing in partnership with low-income families and the community.  These new homeowners thus begin to break out of the cycle of poverty.  Since 1994, VPC has been in partnership with our local Habitat for Humanity.  Learn more about our partnership with Habitat for Humanity

Giving Rural China Girls a Chance

Imagine what it would have been like for you if you had to drop out of school in the 4th grade because your parents were too poor to send you to school.  Where would you be today without your education? This is what 100 girls in the poor rural areas of Xian, China were facing until Valley Presbyterian Church stepped in to help.  Learn about how VPC helped give rural girls a chance for education.
