SUMMER HANDBELL CLASSES PDF Print E-mail

Summer Handbells will meet in the Fireside Room.  Each class will stand on it’s own – you can come to one or be a part of all three. Please let Karen Russell know if you plan to attend..  Thanks!
Instruction time is from 6-7 pm.
From 7:00 to 7:30 pm, those who wish to stay will experience playing some music.

Schedule:
July 24 – (When They) Ring Those Golden Bells!
This class will be a time to be introduced to (or re-visit) the parts of the bell and step-by-step of how to ring one.

July 31 -  Stop!  In the Name of Bells!
This class will focus on all you ever wanted to know about stopped sounds-  martellato, mallets, thumb-damping, and more.

August 7 – Take A Chance On Me (with Bells!)
Here’s an opportunity to stretch your ringing skills…  we’ll touch on a few more techniques like weaving and 4-in-hand ringing.

MAPLE STREET SHELTER - JULY 27 PDF Print E-mail

Please join the VPC community in preparing and serving dinner for the Maple Street Shelter residents on Sunday, July 27. This is truly a rewarding opportunity that will not only provide you a deep sense of meaning and community, but will also create a lasting impact in every life you help at the shelter.

Dinner Service 5-6 pm~Followed by Bingo!

You can participate in one or all of the following ways

1. Provide a potluck dish or drinks. Items should be dropped off by 4:00 at VPC

2. Help serve the dinner to residents. We'll meet at VPC around 4:00 and head over to the shelter to start setting up by 4:30

3. Donate a small item or gift card (under $25) for us to hand out for the bingo winners.

Please let Trish McBride know how you would like to help. Ken has volunteered to barbeque chicken so we just need to provide the other fixings/accompaniments. We'll need to provide food and drink for 70 residents so please indicate how many people your item will serve. Any food is welcome but salads, vegetables, and fruit are particularly appreciated since many of the residents eat fast food for lunch.  I hope you can help share this rewarding experience!
