Team H4- Raising Money for Habitat for Humanity |

TEAM H4 Holy Rollers Hammering for Habitat Homes Cycling enthusiasts have dubbed Race Across America “the World’s toughest bike race.” That moniker doesn’t scare the four-person team of average folks from Valley Presbyterian Church. In fact, the team hopes the drama generated by the coast-to-coast race and their own relative inexperience in the event will draw attention to a cause they believe in: Peninsula Habitat for Humanity (PH4H). The “ultra-distance” riders want their endurance efforts to raise $50 thousand for PH4H. An eight unit complex on Lincoln Avenue in Redwood City has been identified as the PH4H project to receive the funds.

| Scheduled from June 11 to June 20, 2008, Race Across America’s (RAAM) 3,000-mile route begins in Oceanside, CA, and concludes in Annapolis, MD. Unlike a stage race, riders pedal twenty-four hours a day in a relay format that keeps one team member on the road racing at all times.
The four team members from Valley Presbyterian Church (VPC) are Rafael Ornes, Joel Phillips, Sally Phillips and Michele Santiilhano. Ornes is the Minister of Music at VPC and the others are members of the congregation; none is a professional cyclist. The ultra marathon will test them physically and spiritually and serve as a two-wheeled vehicle for generating fundraising for awareness for PH4H.
This amazing effort needs your support. 100% of the monies raised will go directly to the PH4H Lincoln Avenue project. Your tax-deductible donation can be made in cash, by credit card, or on-line by accessing the PH4H website. To make donations on-line visit the PH4H website: www.peninsulahabitat.org Under the Giving drop menu, click “Give Online Now” and complete the short form and access the “Program” drop down menu and select “VPC Race Across America.” Please make sure that you designate this program so that we can track our fundraising efforts.
Thank you from everyone involved in this amazing endurance effort to provide eight families an affordable place to call home. |
