Valley is a place where we celebrate your faith, past and preseent, and encourage growth for the future. We believe that there are as many ways to God as there are stars in the sky, and we hope we can be a part of your journey.
Below, you will find various opportunities for faith development for adults.
Adult Education on Sunday Mornings at 9:15
We welcome everyone's participation in our informative presentations and lively discussions. Join us in the Fireside Room from 9:15 to 10:15am.
In January Adult Ed begins its discussion of the Marcus Borg anthology Days of Awe and Wonder: How to be a Christian in the 21st Century.
Steadfast Hope for Just Peace
Steadfast Hope for Just Peace offers opportunities for learning and discernment regarding the struggle between Palestine and Israel. Through group study, documentary films, conferences, testimony, and personal witness, we seek to delve beneath the surface of the dual narratives of this complex issue with open hearts and open minds. Resource and reading lists are available. All are welcome; all are heard. For further information, contact Robin Polastri.
The next Wise Women is on Friday, April 12 in the Fireside Room at noon.
Any woman who has lived 5 decades and who either seeks wisdom or has wisdom to offer is welcome to attend our happy, supportive group for lunch three times a year. We have a suggested topic and we are also seeking book or movie recommendations each time we meet. This is not a book club, just an exchange of ideas. Bring your own sandwich or bento box and we will provide coffee, tea, fruit and desserts. This January the topic is “Women who successfully faced challenges.” Those who attend are encouraged to tell stories of personal challenges successfully faced and to bring suggestions for books or movies about women who faced challenges successfully. For more details, contact Robin Raborn.
Footprints is a good and easy way to expand your group of friends at Valley Presbyterian Church (VPC), while enjoying fun, food and fellowship. In Footprints, a few individuals/ couples/ families in the VPC community get together for a simple meal several times during the year. A different family hosts each meal and others help provide the food. There is no program, just food and fellowship.
Each Footprints group will plan to meet for two to four meals between January and December of 2018. Hopefully, everyone in the VPC church community, no matter how busy, can find the time to participate! You will have choices between family-oriented, adults only, or combination groups.
Footprints at VPC was started in 2000 as a way for members of the VPC community to get to know each other better. Participants sign up each year, and are assigned to a different small group each year. If you had signed up every year since 2000, you would have had the opportunity to share meals with over 60 different families. Think how many different people might want to give you a hug on a Sunday morning!
