Justice & Outreach
Ongoing Outreach Events
Fridays at St. Anthony's Padua
Valley serves lunch every Friday at St. Anthony's in Menlo Park. Please contact Rich Mindigo if you would like to help!
We continually seek to honor God's call to mission as the Holy Spirit moves among us. If you have a mission passion, maybe God is inviting you to contact the Justice & Outreach Committee.
We welcome all who wish to join.
Each year, we commit 13% - 20% of the church operating budget to Justice & Outreach programs. Of that amount, about one-third goes to the San Francisco Presbytery, seminaries, and missionary support.
The VPC Justice & Outreach Committee manages the remaining two-thirds, with an acknowledged preference for programs that benefit those whom Jesus reached out to – particularly the hungry and homeless poor, youth, elderly, and the disadvantaged. While supporting initiatives that provide immediate food and shelter needs, we strongly emphasize preventive programs (such as All Five Preschool).
We intentionally limit the number of continuing justice & outreach partners so that donations make a positive and measurable impact. And for each partner, a VPC member-sponsor verifies the need and the use of the funds. And while money makes the mission work, so does our willingness to put our hands to the task. We like to include as many hands-on projects as we can, like Habitat for Humanity builds, or our annual Rise Against Hunger (formerly Stop Hunger Now) project, in which we pack 20,000 meals over the course of a Sunday morning. Projects like these allow neighbors and friends of the VPC community to join in and make a difference at a personal level.
